BUSANZE WASHING STATION
Busanze Coffee Washing station started operation in 2018 by IMPEXCOR coffee company and local farmers of Nyaruguru district. The washing station is located at the edges of Nyungwe Forest, which provides natural shading for the coffee trees. The Busanze washing coffee story is not only about the quality, but also about the history and patriotism of the Nyaruguru people. Nyaruguru district is known as the home of the most resilient people in the nation—it is a beacon of unity and reconciliation. In this context, Busanze coffee washing station is playing its role by grouping farmers in cooperatives based on the context of each village.
The region is known as the home of wonderful coffee in recent days. In 2014, our partner company IMPEXCOR Coffee, initiated a wave of tree-planting by distributing thousands of trees to local farmers who were planting other crops. After a successful first harvest, hundreds more farmers joined the journey, and coffee has become the main income generator to many farmers around Busanze and surrounding villages. This practice has created a sense of ownership and trust that motivates farmers to improve the quality of the coffee, leading Busanze coffee to win awards in recent years like the Alliance Cup of Excellence in 2018.
